John graduated from McGill University in 1964, cum laude, and from Osgoode Law School in 1967. He was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1969. He was certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1989. John has acted in insurance defence litigation since the commencement of his practice in 1969. He has represented the interests of the insured in motor vehicle claims, products liability, coverage issues, and solicitor negligence claims. John has acted for major insurers and insureds. His practice also encompasses a broad range of civil litigation including motor vehicle accident claims, medical malpractice, wrongful dismissal and malicious prosecution. He is a past instructor in civil procedure in the Bar Admission Course. He has lectured on marine law, marine insurance and the Canada Shipping Act to students at Humber College. He has participated as a panelist at Errors and Omissions Seminars for the education of lawyers. He has conducted seminars for adjusters representing the Law Society of Upper Canada with regard to investigation into coverage and liability of lawyer's errors and omissions claims. John has also conducted seminars for major food chains with respect to negligence and product liability claims. He has served as a member of the Civil Litigation Specialist Certification Panel and conducted examinations of applicants seeking Specialist Certification in Civil Litigation. John is a member of the Canadian Bar Society and the Advocates Society.
